ECE is known primarily for their fabulous Primus planes. ECE Primus Improved Smoothing Plane will plane any wildly figured hardwood without tearout. The lignum vitae sole is self lubricating and makes pushing the plane effortless, far easier than any metal plane. If you want to make gossamer thin shavings, this is the right plane. This plane far surpasses any of the Stanley type planes. It is even affordable, and the combination of all these virtues makes it the ultimate smoothing plane.

ECE Planes
ECE planes can be divided into the following categories:
ECE Primus planes - top of the line planes
ECE Adjustable planes other than Primus
Wedged planes - excellent performers, wedge instead of cap iron and no depth adjuster
Specialty planes - dovetail, plow, scrub, moving fillister, router, etc.

ECE Saws
The most interesting saws that ECE makes are their bow saws. This type of saw is very popular in continental Europe and for a good reason. This is a universal saw that excels in larger joinery - e.g. large tenon and mortise joints. It will outpace panel saw (e.g. Disston D8) when ripping because the blade is thinner. It does a very good job when resawing. Some people get carried away and even use it for dovetails!
ECE Bow saw comes in two sizes and there are five different saw blades to choose from. If you take a good look, you'll also find a handy stair saw.

ECE Chisels and Gouges
Chisels and gouges are indispensable woodworking tools in any shop, and ECE provides a few good quality types. Besides mundane tasks reserved for firmer chisels, here are some heavy duty mortise chisels for those that like whacking the wood out of the mortise. They even have leather discs to cushion blows. There are also heavy duty firmer chisels sporting the same leather discs and some beautiful gouges.

ECE Layout Tools
One of the basic tasks in woodworking is squaring a piece of wood, and here is where one needs a try square. This one is made of rosewood and brass and comes in two variants. The next indispensable woodworking tool is marking gauge. Its pin will neatly score the wood and the resulting line can be used as a reference for a chisel or when sawing. When doing any kind of work with irregular angles, one needs a sliding bevel.
